Those Wedding Day Problems

What if… My rowdy uncle gets too drunk?

Those Wedding Day ProblemsThere's always one - the boisterous family member who notoriously drinks his or her way through family occasions, making a fool of themselves much to everyone's amusement - but it is not so funny when it is your wedding! The solution is to pass the responsibility of this person over to someone else, leaving you and your groom to enjoy your special day. Assign a close family member or even a teetotal friend to keep a watchful eye over this person, from the minute they arrive at your reception. Serving toasts of buck's fizz rather than champagne will stop the person getting drunk too quickly - you could also point him or her out to the bar staff and ask them to sneakily water down his or her drinks. If you're very worried that they'll start making a scene, make sure you pre-instruct two male family members or even bouncers, if your venue has them, to take him or her outside when things get heated to calm down and sober up while you and your groom continue with your celebrations.

What if…

I wake up on the morning of my wedding with a large spot on my face?

You've spent months and months carefully following a new skincare regime, only to wake up on the morning of your special day to discover a huge, horrible spot on your face! First of all, it's important not to panic. Instead be prepared with a few clever insider tricks to calm and conceal the horror. Origins offers a brilliant product called Spot Remover which will tone down the redness and speed the healing process, while stopping the spot from getting worse. Whatever you do, don't squeeze it and try not to overdo covering the spot. A liquid concealer does a pretty good, and without making your skin look caked - once the spot's covered, all you have to do is set it with a touch of loose powder, smile and forget about it! Remember to pack your concealer in your 'emergency' wedding day bag, so you can reapply when necessary during the day.

What if…
It rains all day?

There's not a bride on the planet who doesn't worry about the weather on her big day - everyone hopes for clear skies but even tying the knot on midsummer's day won't guarantee a miracle! The best thing to do is prepare for the worse, then if you're blessed with a glorious day, so much the better. Top tips include making sure your convertible car roof can be quickly put up in the event of a downpour, organising for your ushers to carry huge umbrellas to shield you and your guests if the skies open, and opting for an outdoor venue which also has an undercover area, such as a marquee or conservatory. If you really feel rain will ruin your day, why not opt for a winter wedding? There won't be so much onus on the weather as most of the proceedings will take place inside.

What if…
I spill something down my wedding dress at the reception

You can minimise the chances of you (or anyone else!) spilling anything disastrous like red wine, Pimms or raspberry coulis down your wedding dress by opting to serve only 'safer' options such as white wine, champagne and clear spirits at your reception. When it comes to the food, there's less chance of an accident happening if you go for a more organised, sit-down meal, which doesn't contain any foods that could potentially cause damage - some brides have even been known to order a completely different meal for themselves, such as plain pasta, to be on the safe side.

If disaster does strike, the best way to rid a white dress of a nasty stain is to grab the nearest clean napkin and blot the stain dry - rubbing the stain will only make it worse. A top tip is to include a tiny stick of white chalk in your 'emergency' bag, to rub gently over the dry stain as an instant disguise.
