Your Lingerie Needs

What Lingerie!

What LingerieIt is important to leave yourself enough time to choose your underwear, as it may take a while to find exactly the right thing. As soon as you have chosen your dress it's time to begin the search. The two most important factors in finding the perfect lingerie are you and your dress. First, you. Even if the diet is coming on a treat and you will soon be toned and gorgeous, the right lingerie can still make a huge difference. If however you feel downright dissatisfied with how you look, then take heart. The right lingerie can work miracles!

Getting Your Measure

If lingerie is going to work for you, it not only has to fit but it needs to nip and pull in all the right places without being uncomfortable. It is reckoned that seven out of ten women wear the wrong size of bra without knowing it. So before going anywhere or doing anything, get yourself professionally measured. Most department stores offer a measuring service as do specialist lingerie stores but you may need to book an appointment.

Size Matters

Your wedding day diet is not going to have a mega impact on your bra size, unless you're losing lots of weight, you're pretty much stuck with what you have got. The trick is to make the best of your assets whether you would like to scale down a notch or two or go the other way.

Just Right

You know the fit is right when your bra sits in a level line around your bust and back all day. If you find it riding up at the back, your bra may be too big while if you are falling out of your cups, it is probably too small. The cups should fit smoothly with no wrinkling or creasing.

Dress Sense

The style of your wedding dress and the shapes of the neckline are the next big consideration. If your dress is a bias cut or a slinky column number then think seam free lingerie (save all the lacy stuff for the honeymoon). Go for a body with a thong, or perhaps a seam free bra and knickers. Stockings and suspenders will also be quite obvious, so choose tights or well-fitting hold-ups to keep lumps and bumps to a minimum. If your dress has a corseted bodice, it may do the job of underwear, especially if it is made to measure and boned inside. For a corset style dress that doesn't have punch of its own wear a corset as underwear that will give you a nipped in waist and a cleavage with va-va voom. If the dress of your dreams has a full skirt then you can go the whole way with any underwear you like, perhaps French knickers or suspenders.

Dress Style Type of Lingerie

Strapless or shift     strapless bra or basque
Scoop neck three-quarter cup
Halterneck multiway bra with adjustable straps
Square neck balcony or balconette
Backless backless basque

Whatever style of dress you are wearing there's another element to be considered - your lingerie needs to be attractive to your new husband. Corsets and basques have loads of sex appeal and are great body shapers, so this option may give you the best of both worlds. If you are wearing a close fitting dress you will need a smooth finish - the Rodin collection by Splendour is one of the few hidden wire basques on the market. While the outside is completely smooth, the inside has lots of clever technology to push up and give shape.

Also think about the colour of your dress. You'll probably be best with nude, white or cream lingerie, but if the fabric of your dress is quite dense then you may be able to get away with coloured trim. Remember there's nothing worse than worrying that something may be showing, especially as you'll have so many phot
